Andrew Schachter
Fuel Clinical Inc.
"Successful clinical development begins long before the first patient is enrolled."
It begins with strategy.
The right development plan, protocol, operational model, and data strategy can fundamentally change the trajectory of a clinical program. For more than 25 years, Andrew Schachter has helped pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies ask the right questions early, anticipate challenges before they arise, and build integrated development strategies that improve execution, reduce risk, and ultimately bring new therapies to patients.
As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fuel Clinical, Andrew partners directly with sponsors to solve complex development challenges—from early clinical strategy and protocol design through global execution, biometrics, technology, regulatory planning, and commercialization.
Throughout his career, Andrew has worked alongside innovative sponsors and exceptional teams of clinical research professionals to help bring new therapies closer to patients. He believes that the best outcomes are never achieved by one individual or one organization—they are built through strong partnerships, shared expertise, and a common commitment to improving patient care.
"The best clinical programs don't separate strategy, operations, biometrics, and technology—they integrate them."
Experience & Therapeutic Breadth
Andrew has provided strategic leadership across hundreds of Phase I through Phase IV clinical trials in oncology, cardiovascular disease, pain management, vaccines, central nervous system disorders, infectious diseases, rare diseases, medical devices, and numerous additional therapeutic areas.
Founding Axiom Real-Time Metrics
In 2001, Andrew founded Axiom Real-Time Metrics with the vision of building a different kind of Contract Research Organization—one that combined experienced clinical professionals with innovative technology to improve the way clinical research was conducted. Under his leadership, Axiom grew from a startup into a global organization employing more than 200 professionals and supporting sponsors in more than 30 countries.
Recognizing early that technology would become central to clinical development, Andrew led the creation of Axiom's proprietary Electronic Data Capture (EDC) platform and broader eClinical ecosystem. He also helped advance the adoption of electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO), demonstrating how technology could improve data quality, operational efficiency, and the patient experience.
Rather than viewing clinical development as a collection of independent disciplines, Andrew has spent his career integrating strategy, operations, biometrics, technology, and regulatory planning into a unified development model that helps sponsors make better decisions, execute more efficiently, and reduce risk throughout the life of a program.
"Start with the end in mind."
The Founding of Fuel Clinical
After more than two decades building Axiom, Andrew stepped away from the organization in mid-2024 to pursue a new vision for the future of clinical development.
In January 2025, he founded Fuel Clinical on the belief that sponsors need more than operational execution—they need a strategic development partner. Fuel was created to unite experienced clinical professionals, strategic consulting, advanced biometrics, modern technology, and operational excellence into a single integrated organization dedicated to helping sponsors make better decisions and advance innovative therapies more efficiently.
Today, Andrew continues to work directly with sponsors, helping them navigate complex development challenges from strategy through execution. Whether supporting a first-in-human study, optimizing a global program, rescuing a struggling trial, or implementing new technologies, his goal remains constant: to help sponsors execute with confidence, reduce development risk, and accelerate the delivery of new therapies to patients.
Vision for Fuel Clinical
"Every decision should move a therapy one step closer to the patient."
Andrew's vision for Fuel Clinical is to redefine the role of the modern CRO by eliminating the traditional barriers between strategy, operations, biometrics, technology, and regulatory planning. Fuel exists to serve as a true development partner, integrating these disciplines into a single, unified approach that enables sponsors to make better decisions, execute with greater confidence, and improve the probability of development success.
